Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is designed to give students a good foundation for all future mathematics courses.  The fundamentals of algebraic problem-solving are explained.  The content involves understanding, writing, solving, and graphing linear, quadratic, exponential and radical equations—including systems of two linear equations and inequalities with two unknowns.  Quadratic equations are solved by factoring, by completing the square, by using graphs, or by applying the quadratic formula.  Students will become proficient with operations on monomial and polynomial expressions.  Students are introduced to rational expressions, data analysis and probability.  Throughout the course, Common Core standards are taught and reinforced as the student learns how to apply the concepts in real-life situations.
